At TLO, children have age-appropriate opportunities to make choices. These moments build coordination, practical skills, and a sense of safety. Teachers are guided by a class’s imagination and interests when deciding what materials and experiences to introduce next.

Toddlers' understanding and use of language changes dramatically during these years. Therefore, teachers surround children with conversation, songs, stories, books, questions, new vocabulary, and opportunities to communicate.

Our culturally and linguistically diverse teaching community brings multiple languages and experiences into school life, helping children understand from an early age that people communicate and experience the world in many different ways.

The toddler day includes a balance of child-directed exploration, teacher-supported experiences, rest, and outdoor movement. Children receive morning and afternoon snacks and lunch as part of the program. They also participate in Little Groove music class, age-appropriate yoga, and library visits.

We use Brightwheel to keep families connected to the school day with updates about meals, rest, classroom experiences, care routines, and well-being. Families and teachers also talk at arrival and pickup, exchanging important observations from home and school.
